Charity or Big Business?
In this episode, Jeremy Cordeaux discusses the increasing need for transparency in the charity sector. He highlights that charity has now become a $200 billion industry.
“Charity is big business, and we have the right to know where the money goes,” Jeremy asserts.
He believes that, as the charity sector grows, the public deserves more clarity about how donations are being used. Jeremy is concerned that many people give in good faith without knowing how much of their contribution actually reaches the cause.

The Need for Legislation
Jeremy strongly advocates for new legislation that would require charities to be more transparent about their spending. He calls for laws that would force charities to reveal exactly how much of each dollar raised goes directly to their cause.
“Charities should be required to declare how much they give to the cause—it’s simple,” Jeremy says.
He expresses frustration with the lack of government oversight in the charity sector. According to him, too many charities hide behind their status, making it difficult for the public to understand where their donations are going.
Time for Transparency in Every Charity
Jeremy argues that increased transparency would benefit both donors and reputable charities.
“If you’re giving 70% to the cause, great! If it’s 2%, we have the right to know,” Jeremy insists.
He believes that by enforcing transparency, donors can make more informed decisions about where their money goes. This would also allow trustworthy charities to stand out while exposing those that misuse funds. Jeremy makes a strong case for reform, urging for more accountability in the sector. He concludes by stating that full disclosure is not just a request but a necessity for maintaining public trust.
